| | | | | | | | OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this report is for the City Council to consider a request by the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association and the Garden Grove Neighborhood Association to videotape and air the upcoming Garden Grove Mayoral and City Council Candidates Forum on Channel 3. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
On Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, the Garden Grove Neighborhood Association and Garden Grove Downtown Business Association will be hosting a Candidates Forum at the Courtyard Center. The free event will provide residents the opportunity to meet and hear the candidates running for City Council and Mayor speak about their goals and vision for Garden Grove.

| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The event organizers would like to have the forum videotaped by the City and aired on Channel 3 so more residents can see the candidates and hear about their goals. To this end, they have asked that the City Council consider supporting their request. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT
The estimated cost to videotape the forum is $1,000 and could be paid from funds in the City Council Contingency package. This would cover the cost of contracting with an outside company for the audio work and hiring one to two assistants to operate a second camera. The City does not have the technological capability of supporting the audio needs for this event. |

It is recommended that the City Council:
- Provide direction to staff regarding how to proceed.
