Subject:Approval of correction to Fund 220 – Public Safety/Proposition 172 and Fund 226 – Police – Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund. (Action Item)Date:9/13/2016

OBJECTIVE

For the City Council to approve the correction to the allocations for Fund 220 – Public Safety/Proposition 172 and Fund 226 – Police – Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund for Fiscal Year 2016-17.

BACKGROUND

On June 28, 2016, the City Council adopted the Grant Funds for Fiscal Year 2016-17. Within that set of sources was Fund 220 in the amount of $814,368. It has been determined that, due to an entry error, the sum underrepresented the needed resources. Fund 226 was not listed for adoption and should have been included in the amount of $4,740.

DISCUSSION

It is now necessary to increase the allocation for Fund 220 by $67,260 that will result in the total being adjusted from $814,368 to $881,628. Fund 226 needs to be listed in the amount of $4,740. This funding is part of the budget for the Police Department and the finances are estimated to be available for Fiscal Year 2016-17.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

An increase of $67,260 in Fund 220 and the allocation of $4,740 in Fund 226 can be accommodated for in Fiscal Year 2016-17.  There is no impact to the General Fund.

 

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council:

 

  • Approve and appropriate an additional $67,260 in Fund 220 Package 6900 Departmental Services – Police for upgrading computers to two screens for the Spillman System; and

 

  • Approve and appropriate $4,740 in Fund 226 Package 6900 Departmental Services – Police for Higher Ground 24-hour Recorder annual maintenance.
