| | | | | | | | OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a resolution proclaiming the termination of the local emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic declared on March 17, 2020. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
On March 24, 2020 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 9613-20 ratifying the City Manager/Director of Emergency Services’ proclamation of a local emergency on March 17, 2020 due to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 novel coronavirus that caused an infectious decease that caused mild to severe illness, including death. Governor Newsom had declared a statewide State of Emergency due to the pandemic on March 4, 2020. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The incidences of community transmission and deaths due to COVID-19 have diminished and Governor Newsom lifted the statewide State of Emergency as of March 1, 2023. It is therefore appropriate to similarly terminate the local emergency. |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt the attached Resolution proclaiming the termination of the local emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
