To request City Council authorization to purchase replacement water filtration equipment for the Atlantis Play Center splash pad from Vortex International Inc through the competitive National Purchasing Partners Government (NPPGov) cooperative program, contract number: PS21110 |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
In 2011 The City of Garden Grove installed an “Atlantis” themed splash pad with multiple play elements in the southwest corner of Atlantis Play Center. The splash pad has served thousands of residents since its installation and is one of the main attractions to park goers during the summer months. The city has contracted with Commercial Aquatics to maintain and repair the splash pad play elements and operating systems for the past 12 years. Unfortunately, due to the normal wear and tear of the system, many components of the filtering system have become antiquated with some replacement parts being obsolete. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
In order to complete the needed repairs to operate the Atlantis splash pad, the Control Board, Ultra Violet filtration system, Chemical Controller and Flow Regulators are in need of replacement.
The City is a member of and is working with the National Purchasing Partners Government (NPPGov) cooperative program which solicits, evaluates, and awards contracts to companies through a competitive RFP bid process. As a member of NPPGov, the City is able to utilize Coop bid awards for equipment purchases. Staff recommends to purchase the needed equipment to complete the repairs through this competitive bid program.

There is no impact to the General Fund. The total amount for this purchase order is $57,019.94, and will be funded by CDBG funds and Citywide Park Fee Fund within the current budget. |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
- Authorize the Finance Director to issue a purchase order for Vortex International Inc., in the amount of $57,019.94, for the purchase of new replacement equipment for the Atlantis Play Center splash pad.
