| | | | | | | | OBJECTIVE
For City Council approval of Amendment No. 1 of the Professional Services Agreement for hazardous and biological waste removal with Ocean Blue Environmental Services, Inc. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
On April 11, 2017, City Council awarded a five-year contract to Ocean Blue Environmental Services, Inc., for the handling and removal of hazardous and non-hazardous biological waste from city properties. Both the Public Works Department and Police Department utilize services on an as-needed basis. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The Public Works Department continues to have an operational need for on-call environmental services to contain and mitigate any hazardous and non-hazardous waste and spills in accordance with environmental laws and regulations. The current contract with Ocean Blue Environmental Services, Inc., has expired as of April 2022, and with the necessity for environmental waste removal services, an amendment extending the term is required. Staff will be soliciting a competitive request for proposals including utilizing other governmental agencies public bid processes. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no additional impact to the General Fund. Funds will be used from the Public Works operating budget. |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
- Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Ocean Blue Environmental Services, Inc. for increasing the contract amount by $200,000 and extending the performance period through June 30, 2023; and
- Authorize the City Manager to sign the Amendment on behalf of the City.
