| | | | | | | | OBJECTIVE
To request that the City Council approve the attached Joint Use Agreement with the Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) for the right to use 0.7 acres of the Woodbury Elementary School property for joint use area of Woodbury Park. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
On October 15, 1974, the GGUSD entered into a joint use agreement with the City for an approximate 0.2 acre portion of the Woodbury Elementary School, located at 11362 Woodbury Road. The joint use area is located in the northwest portion of the school site with a 40'x60' fenced swimming pool, which became part of Woodbury Park.
As part of the Proposition 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program grant application, the City requested approval from the GGUSD to develop an additional 0.5 acre of the southwest portion of the school site, for a total joint use area of 0.7 acres, to expand the pool area, build a new pool house building, build a new wading pool, add new lighting, and add open space for community programming and events. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The attached Joint Use Agreement between the GGUSD and City, extends the current lease agreement term with the new effective date as January 1, 2022, with the term ending January 1, 2052. The agreement also includes the additional joint use area of the property, for a total of 0.7 acres of school property that will be developed as part of Woodbury Park. The lease term is for a minimum period of thirty years, extendable for two (2) additional five year terms. |

There is no impact to the City's General Fund. |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
- Approve the Joint Use Agreement with the GGUSD for 0.7 acres of Woodbury Elementary School property located at 11362 Woodbury Road, for a thirty year term with two optional five year extensions; and
- Authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement, and make minor modifications as appropriate thereto, on behalf of the City.
