To obtain City Council authorization to purchase four (4) new Police Department utility vehicles from National Auto Fleet Group through the Sourcewell competitive bid program, Contract #120716-NAF. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
The Public Works Department has four (4) vehicles that currently meet the City’s guidelines for replacement. The replacements were approved through the FY-21/22 budget process and will be replacing a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer with 68,000 miles, VIN#1GNDS13S562305562; a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer with 54,000 miles, VIN#1GNDS13S262304806; a 2006 Ford 500 with 87,000 miles, VIN#1FAFP23116G179449; and a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix with 46,000 miles, VIN#2G2WP552561282781. Experience has shown that the City’s buying power is enhanced through joining with other public agencies to purchase fleet vehicles and equipment. |

Sourcewell nationally solicits, evaluates and awards contracts through a competitive bid process. As a member, the City is able to utilize Sourcewell bid awards for equipment purchases. Staff recommends piggybacking on the results of a recent Sourcewell competitive bid program, Contract #120716-NAF. The results deemed National Auto Fleet Group as the lowest responsive bid.

There is no impact to the General Fund. The financial impact is $114,197.10 to the Fleet Management Fund. The surplus equipment will be sold at public auction. |

It is recommended that the City Council:
- Authorize the Finance Director to issue a purchase order in the amount of $114,197.10 to National Auto Fleet Group for the purchase of four (4) new Police Department utility vehicles.
