To transmit a letter from the Live Out Loud with Autism (LOLA) Foundation requesting approval to waive the Local non-profit groups and Garden Grove Residents Exclusive Use Fee for their “End of Summer Bash” at the Atlantis Play Center. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
The Live Out Loud with Autism Foundation is a Garden Grove based, tax exempt non-profit 501(c)(3), which aims to increase Autism awareness in underserved communities, provide social outings to help build social skills and confidence for individuals with autism, as well as build support systems for parents, caregivers, and siblings. Additionally, LOLA provides free events for individuals and families, to assist them in building connections, increase autism based support systems, and to provide safe spaces in the community for the clients they serve. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
Attached is the letter requesting use of Atlantis and a draft flyer promoting the the “End of Summer Bash” event. The event will be free for LOLA client families affected by Autism, with an expected 100-150 attendees. Planned family friendly activities include a petting zoo, trackless train rides, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, and an Autism resource booth. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost to co-sponsor the 2021 “End of Summer Bash” for exclusive use of the Atlantis Play Center by a Local non-profit groups and Garden Grove Residents is $525 for an eight (8) hour time slot, which includes the cost to staff the event. LOLA has also requested the use of the splash pad from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. which has a rate of $20 per hour. The total amount of the requested fees waived are $585.00. |

It is recommended that the City Council:
- Consider the request to waive fees for the Live Out Load with Autism Foundation for the use of the Atlantis Play Center for their End of Summer Bash on September 11, 2021.
