The Police Department has several patrol vehicles that currently meet the City’s guidelines for replacement and were approved through the FY 21/22 budget process. Experience has shown that the City’s buying power is enhanced through joining with other public agencies to purchase police fleet vehicles.

Efforts to obtain a quote from a local Ford dealer were unsuccessful, as there are no Ford dealers within the city limits. City staff recommends piggybacking on the results of a recent Sourcewell competitive bid program for police patrol vehicles, contract #120716-NAF. The results of this bid process deemed Wondries Fleet group as the lowest responsive bid.

The financial impact is $190,944.40 to the Fleet Management Fund. There is no impact to the General Fund. The surplus vehicles will be sold at public auction.

It is recommended that City Council:

• Authorize the Finance Director to issue a purchase order in the amount of $190,944.40 to Wondries Fleet Group for the purchase of five (5) new police patrol vehicles.
