Subject:

Date:7/27/2021

OBJECTIVE

To secure City Council approval to allocate additional funding for graffiti abatement services and to approve Amendment No. 1 of the agreement with Graffiti Protective Coatings, Inc. (GPC).

BACKGROUND

At the November 24, 2020, City Council meeting, the Council awarded a contract to GPC for graffiti abatement services.  The agreement called for one graffiti abatement truck to perform service in the City six (6) days a week, Monday through Saturday.

DISCUSSION

During the budget preparation cycle for fiscal years (FY) 21-23, Public Works requested additional funding in the amount of $137,187 per year to add a second graffiti abatement vehicle three (3) days per week, which was approved as part of the budget.

As a result of the additional funds being approved, the contract needs to be amended.  Funding for the remainder of the first year of the agreement, through November 30, 2021, is estimated to be $51,500.  Total additional costs for the remaining four years of the contract are $548,748.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The funding is available as part of the FY 21-23 budget.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council:

  • Approve allocating additional funds in the amount of $548,748, for graffiti abatement services;

  • Approve Amendment No. 1 to the agreement with Graffiti Protective Coatings, Inc., in the amount of $51,500; and

  • Authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 and the option year agreements on behalf of the City, and to make minor modifications as needed.
