Subject:Cooperative agreement with the City of Westminster for the rehabilitation of Ward Street from Margarita Avenue to Hazard Street.  (Cost: $1,662,116) (Action Item)Date:1/12/2021

OBJECTIVE

For the City Council to approve a Cooperative Agreement with the City of Westminster for the rehabilitation of Ward Street from Margarita Avenue to Hazard Street.

BACKGROUND

The City of Westminster prepared a street rehabilitation project for Ward Street from Margarita Avenue to Hazard Street and has offered to improve the City of Garden Grove’s portion. Approximately one-half of the work lies within the City of Garden Grove.

 

This proposed agreement is for construction costs of Garden Grove's portion of the project. The City of Westminster is serving as lead agency. 

DISCUSSION

Staff has reviewed the plans, specifications, and construction estimate of the project and verified the work located within Garden Grove's portion.  The project cost for City of Garden Grove’s portion of Ward Street is estimated at $1,662,116. 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There will be no financial impact to the General Fund. This improvement is included in the FY 2020-21 Capital Improvement Budget and is funded by Measure “M2” Fairshare and Gas Tax (SB1).  

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council:

 

  • Approve the Cooperative Agreement with the City of Westminster for the rehabilitation of Ward Street from Margarita Avenue to Hazard Street; and

 

  • Authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement, and make minor modifications as appropriate thereto, on behalf of the City.
