Acceptance of Project No. 7839 - Sewer System Rehabilitation Plan Phase 1, Sewer Main Lining and Spot Repair Projects 1 & 2 as complete.  (Action Item)

OBJECTIVE

For the Garden Grove Sanitary District (District) to accept Project No. 7839 – Sewer System Rehabilitation Plan (SSRP) Phase 1, Sewer Main Lining and Spot Repair project as complete, and authorize the General Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Improvements and Work.


BACKGROUND

The District recently completed the SSRP Phase 1, Sewer Main Lining and Spot Repair Projects 1 & 2. This project was identified and listed in the assessment conducted on July 2018. The assessment included main replacement and lining projects with spot repairs at various locations within the City. This project included sewer lining of approximately 17,430 linear-feet of 8-inch VCP pipe with UV-Cured Glass Reinforced Plastic Cured-In-Place liner. The project also included eight (8) spot repairs at indicated locations, and 72 UV-Cured Glass Reinforced Plastic Cured-In-Place tophats.


DISCUSSION

The contractor, Insituform Technologies LLC, has completed this project in accordance with the plans, specifications and other contract documents.


FINANCIAL IMPACT

The project was funded with Sewer Funds and federal funds provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development Department through a Community Development Block Grant. It was completed within budget and on schedule.  The retention payment will be released after recordation of the Notice of Completion with the County of Orange.


RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Sanitary District Board:

 

  • Accept Project No. 7839 – Sewer System Rehabilitation Plan Phase 1, Sewer Main Lining and Spot Repair Projects 1 & 2 as complete, and authorize the General Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Improvement and Work; and

 

  • Authorize the Finance Director to release the retention payment when appropriate to do so.
