For the City Council to award a contract to Orange County Welding, Inc., for on-call welding and fabrication services. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
Due to a lack of certified city personnel and proper welding equipment, a welder is needed to install, repair, and fabricate meter vault lids, backflow cages, and other miscellaneous metal components associated with City trucks and water reservoirs. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
An Invitation to Bid for on-call welding and fabrication services was advertised on June 3, 2020. The bid submittal deadline was July 7, 2020. Staff received one completed bid. A comprehensive evaluation of the bid was performed by Public Works Department staff members. Based on the bidder’s qualification and experience, Orange County Welding, Inc. was selected. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no impact to the General Fund. The costs incurred by this contract will be funded by Fleet Management Funds and Water Enterprise Funds appropriated in this Fiscal Year 2020/21 budget in an amount not to exceed $150,000. |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
- Award a contract to Orange County Welding, Inc. to provide on-call welding and fabrication services in the amount not to exceed $150,000; and
- Authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute the agreement on behalf of the City and to make minor modifications as appropriate.
