For the City Council to adopt the attached Proclamation declaring January 13, 2019, as Korean American Day in Garden Grove. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
Korean immigrants arrived in the United States initiating the first chapter of Korean immigration on January 13, 1903, and in 2005, the United States Congress passed resolutions recognizing Korean American contributions to the economic growth and vitality of the United States. The Korean American community adds a rich and vibrant dimension to the diversity in Garden Grove. During this special milestone, we commemorate the many important achievements made by Korean Americans. We also honor the lasting friendship shared between the City of Garden Grove and the Republic of Korea. |
