Acceptance of the Notice of Completion for the Magnolia Street Rehabilitation Project No. 7254.  (Action Item)

OBJECTIVE

For City Council to accept the above project as complete and authorize the City Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Improvement and Work.

BACKGROUND

The project consisted of roadway rehabilitation by full depth reclamation and cement treatment, asphalt paving, cold milling, replacement of PCC sidewalk, curb, curb & gutter, stamped concrete, drive approach, cross gutter, alley apron, bus pad, local depression, and handicap ramps, installation of catch basin inlet filters, adjustment of utility covers to finish grade, storm drain improvements, water main improvements, closure of Larson Avenue, installation of traffic signal detector loops, installation of traffic striping, raised pavement markers, and signage, reestablishment of centerline ties and monuments, installation of irrigation and landscaping, and other items required by the plans and specifications.

DISCUSSION

The contractor, Griffith Company, has completed the improvements in accordance with the plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no financial impact to the General Fund.  The subject project is funded through Gas Tax (Fund 061 and 075), CIWMB (Fund 231), Drainage Fee (Fund 082) and Measure “M2” (Fund 422) funds and was completed within the project budget and schedule.  The retention payments will be released after recordation of the Notice of Completion.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council:

 

  • Accept Project No. 7254 – Magnolia Street Rehabilitation from 22 Freeway off ramp to Garden Grove Boulevard;

 

  • Authorize the City Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Works Improvement and Work; and

 

  • Authorize the Finance Director to release the retention payment when appropriate to do so.
