To transmit a letter from CVTAL, requesting a co-sponsorship to waive the non-profit Exclusive Use Fee for their exhibition event, Sunday, August 20, 2017, at the Garden Grove Sports Complex. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
CVTAL is a California based, tax exempt non-profit 501(c)(3), that utilizes the sport of Taekwondo to strengthen students and encourage their educational goals. Garden Grove children make up large percentage of CVTAL's membership and one of their missions is to get the sport of Taekwondo recognized as an official sport within the high schools. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
CVTAL is planning an exhibition of its student members on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Many of the students do not have the financial ability to pay for the training, with annual dues being $20 per student. It is for this reason that CVTAL is requesting that the City Council waive their fees for the Sunday, August 20th rental, which are estimated to be $520. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost to co-sponsor the 2017 CVTAL event, for exclusive use of the Garden Grove Sports Complex by a non-profit group is $520 for an eight (8) hour time slot, which includes the cost to staff the event. |

It is recommended that the City Council:
- Provide direction to staff regarding how to proceed.
