Authorize the issuance of a Purchase Order to Emergency Vehicle Outfitters for 48 Light Bars and 60 Siren Controllers for police vehicles. (Cost: $133,089.83) (Action Item)

OBJECTIVE

To obtain City Council approval for the purchase of 48 light bars and 60 siren controllers for police vehicles from Emergency Vehicle Outfitters in the amount of $133,089.83.

 

BACKGROUND

Public Works is responsible for providing safe and reliable vehicles for all City departments. The City’s Police Department patrol car light bars and siren controllers have reached the end of their useful lifespan and require replacement. 

DISCUSSION

Specifications were prepared and sent to bidders in California and multiple bids were received. Pursuant to Garden Grove Municipal Code Section 2.50.060 and based on the City’s Public Works Department recommendations, the results deemed that Emergency Vehicle Outfitters was the lowest responsive bid.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The financial impact is $133,089.83 to the Fleet Management Fund. There is no impact to the General Fund.  The used equipment being replaced will be sold at public auction.

 

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council:

 

  • Authorize the Finance Director to issue a purchase order in the amount of $133,089.83 to Emergency Vehicle Outfitters for the purchase of forty-eight (48) light bars and sixty (60) siren controllers.
