|
| | | | | | | | OBJECTIVE
To hold a Public Hearing for receipt of objections to the Weed Abatement Notices mailed to parcel owners on March 15, 2017. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
On March 14, 2017, City Council adopted Resolution No. 9413-17 pursuant to Section 39500, et seq. of the California Government Code declaring a nuisance exists in connection with the presence of weeds, rubbish, and debris on certain properties within Garden Grove. A Public Hearing was scheduled for May 9, 2017, to receive any objections to the Weed Abatement Notices.
Parcel owners had until April 16, 2017, to clear their properties. The City’s Weed Abatement Official re-inspected these parcels on April 24, 2017; and parcels that were not cleared are identified in the updated “Exhibit A” attached. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The City’s contractor is to begin clearing privately owned properties that are not in compliance on May 10, 2017, with work slated for completion within 30 days. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact. |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council hold a Public Hearing, receive testimony, and take one of the following actions:
- Uphold the objections and order individual properties to be removed from the scheduled abatement process;
- Overrule the objections and direct staff to proceed with the scheduled weed abatement; or
- If there are no objections, direct staff to proceed with the scheduled weed abatement.
