Subject:Approval of a License Agreement with SoCal Street Hockey for the operation of the outdoor hockey rink at the Chapman Sports Complex.  (Action Item)Date:2/28/2017
OBJECTIVE

To request that the City Council approve a three (3) year License Agreement between the City of Garden Grove and SoCal Street Hockey for the operation of the outdoor hockey rink at Chapman Sports Complex.

BACKGROUND

In 2007, the City entered into a License Agreement with SoCal Street Hockey (SSH) for the operation of the outdoor hockey rink at Chapman Sports Complex.  Since then, SSH continues to operate and deliver quality programs to the community.  

DISCUSSION

The current Agreement with SSH has expired, and the Lessee has requested a renewal of said License Agreement.  After reviewing the License Agreement, City staff and SoCal Street Hockey agreed that a new License Agreement needs to be created that outlines terms and conditions applicable to the current operations at this facility.   

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The approval of said License Agreement has no financial impact to the City’s current fiscal budget.  The facility operator will continue to provide a monthly lease amount of $500 to the City.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council:

 

  • Approve a three (3) year License Agreement between the City and SoCal Street Hockey, for the operation of the outdoor hockey rink at Chapman Sports Complex; and

 

  • Authorize the City Manager or his designee, to sign the Agreement on behalf of the City; including making minor modifications as appropriate and necessary.
