Authorize the issuance of a purchase order to Logicalis, Inc. to provide two (2) F5 load balancers including technical support. (Cost $67,946.93) (Action Item)

Date:10/22/2019

OBJECTIVE

To secure City Council authorization to purchase two (2) F5 load balancers including one year support in the amount of $67,946.93 from Logicalis, Inc., pursuant to IFB No. S-1245-A.

BACKGROUND

Enterprise Resource Planning “ERP” implementation will significantly increase the workload on the City’s data center.  One of the most important tools within the computing environment is load balancing.  A load balancer is a device that spreads network or application traffic efficiently across multiple servers therefore improving responsiveness. On September 11, 2018, City Council approved an estimated $574,000.00 budget for the acquisition of ERP hardware, software and related licenses.

DISCUSSION

Bid S-1245 for two (2) F5 Load Balancers was released October 31, 2018; after which the specifications required for ERP were updated.  On March 26, 2019 City Council gave approval to reject all bids received for IFB No. S-2145 and to re-advertise updated specifications.   Three (3) bids for IFB No. S-1245-A were received on July 26, 2019.  All bids were found to be responsive.  Bid results were as follows:
