Garden Grove Park, located at 13631 Deodara Drive, is home to two arena soccer facilities with fencing, a structure containing restrooms, an office, snack bar, and retail accessory goods store.  The City has had a long-standing agreement with Arena Soccer Parks, Inc., since 2000.  The agreement is set to expire on October 11, 2019.

Chapman Sports Complex, located on Chapman Avenue at Knott Avenue, is under a joint-use agreement between the City and the Garden Grove Unified School District.  SoCal Street Hockey has provided street hockey activities at this facility since 2007. In 2016, the City extended the agreement with SoCal Street Hockey for an additional three years that is set to expire on October 28, 2019.

The City would like to extend the current agreements to March 31, 2020, to allow sufficient time to conduct a Request for Proposal (RFP) process, review all proposals and identify an operator for each facility. 

None.   

It is recommended that the City Council:

•  Approve the Amendment to the Site License and Use Agreement with Arena Soccer Parks, Inc., to extend the term to March 31, 2020, for the outdoor arena soccer facilities at Garden Grove Park;

•  Approve the Amendment to the Site License and Use Agreement between the City and SoCal Hockey to extend the term to March 31, 2020, for the outdoor hockey rink facility at Chapman Sports Complex; and

•  Authorize the City Manager to execute the Amendments, and make minor modifications as appropriate thereto, on behalf of the City.
