Subject:Acceptance of Sanitary District Project No. 7833 - Trask Avenue/Newland Street Sewer Improvements as complete.  (Action Item)Date:3/26/2019

OBJECTIVE

For the Garden Grove Sanitary District Board (District Board) to accept Sanitary District Project No. 7833 – Trask Avenue/Newland Street Sewer Improvements as complete, and authorize the District’s General Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Improvements and Work.

BACKGROUND

The Trask Avenue/Newland Street sewer improvements project consists of constructing new replacement sewer lines in Trask Avenue, Newland Street, Josephine Street, and Stanford Avenue.  The improvements include the installation of approximately 3,196 linear feet of new replacement extra strength Vitrified Clay Pipe (VCP) sewer line of various sizes (6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, 15-inch, and 18-inch), installation of approximately 80 linear feet of new replacement 6-inch/8-inch/10-inch Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipe water line, construction of fifteen (15) new sewer manholes, removal of seventeen (17) existing sewer manholes and removal and/or abandonment of existing sewer pipes. 

DISCUSSION

The contractor, Ramona, Inc., has completed this project in accordance with the plans, specifications and other contract documents. 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The project was funded with Sewer Funds, and was completed within budget and on schedule.  The retention payment will be released after recordation of the Notice of Completion with the County of Orange.

 

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the District Board:

 

  • Accept Sanitary District Project No. 7833 – Trask Avenue/Newland Street Sewer Improvements as complete;

 

  • Authorize the General Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Works Improvement and Work; and

 

  • Authorize the Finance Director to release the retention payment when appropriate to do so.
