City of Garden Grove
INTER-DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM
To: | Scott C. Stiles
| From: | William E. Murray
| Dept.: | City Manager
| Dept.: | Public Works
| Subject: | Approval of amendments to the Consultant Agreements with Associated Soils and Group Delta for professional services. (Cost: Associated Soils-$100,000; Group Delta-$100,000) (Action Item) | Date: | 8/28/2018 |
|
| | | | | | | | OBJECTIVE
To request City Council approval of amendments to two separate agreements: (1) Associated Soils and (2) Group Delta for on-call geotechnical services. Each amendment has been titled “Amendment No. 2” and each one would increase the original contract amount from $300,000 to $400,000, a total increase of $100,000 per agreement. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
The City of Garden Grove has various divisions that require geotechnical services, including Streets, Storm Drains, Water, and the Sanitary District. However, the primary demand for geotechnical services comes from capital projects. There is a continuous need for geotechnical fieldwork, analysis, reports and studies, materials testing and acceptance, quality assurance testing, and independent analysis of civil engineering designs for approved capital improvement projects. |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION
The City entered into separate agreements with Associated Soils and Group Delta in November 2014. The attached amendments would increase the amount of each contract by $100,000 and guarantee continued services without any contract gaps. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no impact to the General Fund. The costs for these two amendments will be covered by the Public Works’ Engineering Division capital budget. |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
- Approve Amendment No. 2 with Associated Soils, increasing the initial agreement amount from $300,000 to $400,000, a $100,000 increase;
- Approve Amendment No. 2 with Group Delta, increasing the initial agreement amount from $300,000 to $400,000, a $100,000 increase; and
- Authorize the City Manager to execute both Amendments and to make minor modifications on behalf of the City.
